Spring Cleaning for the Soul
/Every spring, I open my closet, pull everything out, and ask the hard question: Do I still need this? What begins as an afternoon project usually turns into a full-blown reckoning. It’s amazing how easily clutter builds up — both in closets and in hearts.
The same question applies spiritually. What am I holding onto that no longer fits who God is shaping me to be? Sometimes it’s old habits. Other times, it’s attitudes — bitterness, fear, or pride — quietly collecting dust in corners of the soul.
Spiritual growth often requires a holy purge. We can’t fill our hearts with peace when they’re packed with resentment. We can’t receive new joy when old worries take up space.
As you clean this spring, ask the Holy Spirit to walk the hallways of your heart. Let Him show you what to keep, what to give away, and what to let go of entirely.
Reflection questions:
What emotional or spiritual clutter are you carrying right now?
How might letting go make space for something new?
Who could help hold you accountable as you “declutter” your soul?
